How an engagement works, one question at a time.
The practical questions about working with Caption, each answered on its own page: starting, the weekly running, the meetings, and cost, length and stopping.
Before you start
What do you need from us to start?
A market, a calendar and a person to take the meetings, plus an hour for the brief and fifteen minutes a week after that. The reps, the manager, the data, the dialler and the sequencing all come with the engagement, on our own platform, so there is nothing for you to buy, wire up or manage.
What happens between the brief and the first dial?
Around three weeks. Week one is the brief, the board of target companies and the messaging. Week two is the set-up: a mailbox on your domain, warmed, the sequences written, and the scripts and qualification criteria agreed with you. The first calls are made in week three.
Whose name do the reps use?
Yours. The reps introduce themselves as part of your team, send email from an address on your domain that we set up and warm, and write in your tone. Meetings arrive as calendar invitations from your domain. The prospect meets your company, not ours.
What happens on the fifteen-minute call?
Three things, in fifteen minutes and without slides: what you sell and to whom, where your pipeline comes from today, and a straight answer on whether an outsourced SDR team makes sense for you, and what it would look like if it does. If it does not make sense, we say so.
While it runs
Who manages the reps, and do we have to coach them?
A Caption manager sits over the calls every day, listening, coaching and correcting: the opener, the objection handling, the email and the order of the day. You get a weekly read of the numbers and what changed. You do not have to coach anyone.
What do we get each week?
The numbers - dials, conversations, replies, meetings booked and held, and the rate between each - what changed that week and why, and what the market is saying back. Fifteen minutes with the manager if you want it, and a login to the same screen we look at.
What is Setta, and what can we see in it?
Setta is our own sales platform: live intent data, waterfall enrichment, a power dialler, multichannel sequencing, deliverability and reporting in one console. It is included in the engagement, and you get a login to the same screen we work from. There is nothing for you to buy.
How do you screen calls against the TPS and CTPS?
Every calling list is cleansed against the Telephone Preference Service and the Corporate Telephone Preference Service with specialist list-cleansing software before anyone dials it. Numbers registered on either are taken out, and anyone who asks not to be called again is not called again, whatever the registers say.
The meetings
What counts as a qualified meeting?
One that meets the criteria agreed with you in week one and written into the brief. Most clients use five: the right company, the right person, a real need in their own words, a reason to talk now, and what they use today. A meeting either meets them or it does not.
How is a meeting handed over to us?
As a calendar invitation from your domain, with a video link, the purpose in a line and the name of the person they will meet. Your closer gets what the rep learned before the meeting, the rep confirms it before the day, and you tell us how it went.
How soon will the first meetings be booked?
Inside the first month. The first dial is around three weeks after the brief, the first conversations and replies arrive that week and the next, and the first qualified meetings are booked before the month is out. Outbound then compounds over the first quarter.
Cost, length and stopping
How is the cost worked out?
There is no rate card. The figure depends on one rep or a team, how well-defined the market is, the channel mix, how considered the sale is, and the length of the engagement. It is one figure, agreed for your market before we start, and it includes the manager, the data and the platform.
How long is an engagement, and how do we stop?
We suggest the first quarter, because outbound compounds over it and that is the fair length to judge a market on. After that it is your call: tell us and it stops. What you keep afterwards - the board, the data, the mailbox history - is set out before we start.
Where is Caption, and when are the calls made?
Caption Group Limited is incorporated in Hong Kong and works UK B2B markets in UK hours. Every call to a prospect is made in UK time, at the hours buyers answer: a first attempt mid-morning or mid-afternoon, and a different hour for the second.
