Questions
Everything people ask on the first call.
Short answers, in the order the questions usually come. The practical detail of an engagement, one question to a page, is in the help centre. If yours is not in either, fifteen minutes on a call will cover it, or email info@caption-group.com.
What is an outsourced SDR?
A sales development representative employed, trained and managed by us, prospecting your market under your name and booking qualified meetings into your diary. You pay for the function - the rep, the manager, the data, the platform - rather than for a person.
What is the difference between this and a lead generation agency?
Mostly the phone, and the manager. A lot of lead generation is email and LinkedIn volume with a list of names at the end. Sales development is a rep holding conversations across every channel, qualifying the person on the other end, and handing over a meeting that is worth your closer’s time - with someone listening to those calls and improving them every week.
Do you cold call?
Yes. The phone is still where meetings get agreed, and it is a channel many agencies have quietly dropped. Our reps dial from a power dialler with a queue built the night before, and the email and LinkedIn touches are on the same cadence so each one earns the next.
Do you work under our name?
Yes. A mailbox on your domain that we set up and warm, your tone, your brand. The prospect meets your company.
How quickly can you start?
Around three weeks from the brief to the first dial. Week one is the board and the messaging, week two the set-up and warming, week three the first calls.
What happens in the first three weeks?
You brief us. We build the board against your market and show it to you. We set up the mailbox, write the sequences from the signals, agree the scripts and qualification with you, and brief the rep. Then we dial.
Who manages the reps?
A Caption manager who sits over the calls daily. You see the numbers weekly; you do not coach anyone.
What tools do you use?
Our own platform, Setta: live intent data, waterfall enrichment, a power dialler, multichannel sequencing, deliverability and reporting in one console. You get a login to the same screen we look at. There is nothing for you to buy.
What do we get each week?
The numbers - dials, conversations, replies, meetings booked and held - what changed and why, and what the market is saying back. Fifteen minutes with the manager if you want it.
How long is the first engagement?
Long enough to judge the market fairly. Outbound compounds over the first quarter - the fourth touch, the second month, the re-sorted board - so that is the length we suggest; after that it is your call.
What does it cost to start?
It depends on the market and on one rep or a team, so we do not publish a figure. The first call covers what drives it, and how it works sets out everything that goes into it. For a like-for-like sense of scale, a first UK SDR hire is around £85,000 in its first year all in - the arithmetic and its sources.
One rep or a team?
Start with one. Add to the team when the diary says you should. The board, the manager and the platform are shared across the team.
What markets do you work?
UK B2B, across sectors. The case studies cover NHS primary care, enterprise edge AI, Microsoft partner professional services, financial planning software into group finance, property publishing into estate agents, agency new business, GEO and AI search, and a travel company’s partner channel. If the sale is a considered one to a business buyer, it is probably in scope.
Where is the team?
Caption Group Limited is incorporated in Hong Kong and works UK B2B markets in UK hours. Every call to a prospect is made in UK time.
Do we have to take the meetings ourselves?
Yes, and it matters more than anything we do. An outsourced SDR fills a diary; the person in it has to be ready, on time and convinced the meeting is worth having. The engagements that work are the ones where that person was named before the first meeting was booked.
How do we stop?
Tell us. What you keep afterwards - the board, the data, the mailbox history - is set out before we start, so there are no surprises at the end.
Fifteen minutes. No pitch.
The questions above are the ones we get asked. The one that matters is yours.
