How do you screen calls against the TPS and CTPS?
Every calling list is cleansed against the Telephone Preference Service and the Corporate Telephone Preference Service with specialist list-cleansing software before anyone dials it. Numbers registered on either are taken out, and anyone who asks not to be called again is not called again, whatever the registers say.
What gets screened
- The CTPS - companies, some partnerships and government bodies that have registered not to receive sales calls.
- The TPS - sole traders and some partnerships, who are treated like individuals.
- Your own do-not-call requests - anyone who has said they do not want to hear from you.
Why lists are not checked once
A new registration counts once it has been on the register for 28 days, so a list that was clean last quarter may not be clean now. A list is cleansed before it is dialled, not once at the start of an engagement.
The rest of the rules
Our calls are live, made by people, from a number that can be called back, and the rep says which business they are calling for. The full set of UK rules on calling businesses, and the fines since February 2026, are on cold calling; the email rules are on lead generation. Both are summaries, not legal advice.
