Readiness check
Is your business ready for outbound? Eight questions, one minute.
Answer eight questions about your buyer, your offer and your team, and see whether outbound sales development will work for you yet, what to fix first if it will not, and which route fits if it will.
Outbound works when four things are true: you know who buys, something has already sold, there are enough of them, and someone is free to take the meetings. The check below tests those, and then asks how fast you need pipeline and who would coach the calls.
What the questions test
- Your buyer and your reason to talk. A campaign aimed at “decision makers” books meetings with the wrong people. The ones that work name a title, a kind of company and a trigger.
- Proof. Outbound multiplies a message that already works. It rarely finds product-market fit for you.
- Deal size and market size. Person-led outbound costs real money per meeting; the deal has to pay for it, and the market has to be big enough to keep a rep busy for a year.
- Someone to take the meetings. A meeting booked for a diary nobody keeps is a no-show in waiting.
- Timing and coaching. These decide the route rather than whether to do it. A first hire takes months to recruit and ramp and needs weekly coaching; an outsourced team starts in weeks with a manager on the calls.
In their words
We were already performing strongly on the B2C side of the business, but B2B was a channel we really wanted to unlock. We didn’t necessarily have the in-house expertise, language or approach to go after it properly.
Caption came in and completely transformed that side of the business. They helped us build relationships with agencies globally, opening conversations and opportunities that we simply weren’t reaching before.

How do I know if my business is ready for outbound sales?
When you can name the buyer precisely, at least a few customers have bought from a standing start, the deal is worth enough to pay for person-led prospecting, there are hundreds of companies that fit, and someone has time each week to take the meetings.
Should my first salesperson be an SDR?
Only if someone can take the meetings they book and coach their calls. If the founder is still the only closer and has no time to coach, an SDR on their own struggles.
Is my answer stored anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser and nothing you choose is saved or sent. Google Analytics records that a result was shown, not what you answered.
Got your result? Bring it to fifteen minutes.
We will tell you straight whether outbound fits, and what it would look like on your market.
